Our pool has never looked better. For years we have had a pool cleaning company, and I always wanted to get rid of them for doing as little as possible. But with David and his team, they take the time to really clean the pool, no more in and out in 10 minutes like other companies. Great job and thank you, David and team!Posted on Google![]()

Plenty of companies offer this service but we’ve never seen anyone do it with the passion and ownership David brings. David cares for our pool as if his family was going to swim in it daily! From our first interaction I felt like my needs and service were and are a priority to him! He’s knowledgeable and honest! We couldn’t be happier with his service! Fire the other guy now and choose My Pool Helper!Posted on Google![]()

Repair or replace
Repair it, or replace it?
| Repair makes senseFix it and move on | Replace makes senseGood money after bad | |
|---|---|---|
| Pump8 to 12 year life | Under 7 years, one component failed, part is in stock | 8+ years, repeated failures, or a single-speed motor federal rules will not let us re-motor |
| Salt cell3 to 7 year life | Within lifespan, scale that cleans off, flow switch or board fault | Past 7 years, plates visibly degraded, low output with a clean cell |
| Heater8 to 12 year life | Igniter, thermocouple, pressure switch or flame sensor on a newer unit | 8+ years with heat exchanger corrosion, or 12+ years on any major failure |
| Control board8 to 10+ year life | Recent surge damage on a currently supported product line | Parts discontinued, firmware obsolete, no supported replacement |
| The cost rule | ✓Repair is under half the price of a comparable new unit | !Repair quote is 50% or more of new, especially when new carries a warranty |
| The pattern rule | ✓First repair on this unit | !Third service call on the same unit in two seasons |
Your pump repair may become a pump replacement
Federal efficiency rules changed what we are allowed to install. Since July 2021, replacement pumps above roughly 1.15 total horsepower have to be variable-speed, and since September 2025 that applies to replacement motors too. In September 2027 the threshold drops to 0.5 horsepower, which covers nearly every residential pool pump in Denton County. Your current pump is grandfathered, but the day it fails, the replacement is a variable-speed unit. The upside is real: 70% to 90% less electricity, which usually pays back the difference in one to three seasons.
What it costs
Straight answers on repair pricing
Repairs are quoted on site, in writing, before any work starts. Parts and labor are listed separately and nothing gets touched until you say yes. Ask about our diagnostic visit when you call.
Our Process
How a repair call works
You describe the symptom
Noise, error code, no heat, breaker tripping. We can often narrow it down on the phone at no charge.
We diagnose on site
A real diagnosis, not a guess. You get a written line-item quote before any work begins.
We fix it and follow up
Most repairs finish the same visit. If a specialty part is needed, we order it and call you with an ETA.
Meet David, your local pool pro
My Pool Helper is owner-operated by David. He learned pool care from the ground up in a family that has spent more than 30 years in the business, and built My Pool Helper on three rules he won’t bend on: show up every time, tell you the truth (no upsells), and sweat the small stuff — right down to a written water report after every visit.
David is a Certified Pool Operator (CPO), licensed and insured in Texas — so your home and your pool are in qualified hands.
We know Denton County pools inside and out
My Pool Helper is owner-operated and based right here in Denton County, so your pool is cared for around the realities of North Texas — not a generic checklist. Our tap water is classified “very hard” (about 15 grains per gallon, drawn from the Trinity Aquifer and Lewisville Lake), which scales tile, plaster, and salt cells fast. We check calcium hardness on every visit and balance for it, so the local water never quietly wears down your pool.
North Texas weather is just as demanding. Summers top 100°F and intense UV burns off chlorine and stabilizer within days — the reason weekly service beats bi-weekly here, and why we tune cyanuric acid and sanitizer for our exact climate. Then winter flips the script: a sudden hard freeze (like February 2021) can crack pumps, filters, and lines overnight. From Denton and Flower Mound to Argyle, Highland Village, and Lantana, it’s the local know-how that keeps pools clear all year.

Common Questions
Everything you need to know
My pump is making a loud screeching noise. What is that?
My salt system says low salt but my salt level tests fine. What is wrong?
Four usual suspects: the cell is dirty and needs an acid clean, the flow switch failed, the cell has reached end of life and can no longer read or produce correctly, or the control board is faulty. It is rarely the salt.
Is it worth repairing a ten year old pump?
Usually not, if the motor is what failed. At ten years you are past typical service life, the repair is a large fraction of the price of new, and federal rules mean a replacement motor at most sizes has to be variable-speed anyway. A minor part on an otherwise healthy pump is a different question.
Can I repair pool equipment myself?
Basket cleaning, filter cleaning, and o-ring lubrication, absolutely. Anything involving the electrical side, gas connections on a heater, or opening a motor, no. Pool equipment runs on 240 volts and a heater is a gas appliance.
How often should equipment be inspected?
Every visit, if you are on weekly service. If not, at least once before the season starts and once before the first hard freeze.
Do you work on all brands?
We service the major residential brands. Tell us what you have when you call and we will confirm before we roll a truck.
